At this time, the people of California have voted FOR the rights of chickens, without much worry of change coming from yet to be counted votes.

However –

The rights of homosexual couples and teen-aged pregnant girls are still undecided.

No wonder people from other states think Californians are a bunch a freaking kooks and idiots.

I can say with out question, this is the first time in over twenty years I have been embarrassed by association.

some time later: Well well well. One Yes, and One No. Still (or more?) upset than I was when it was undecided. What to do with the conflict I am feeling. How do people that profess the core of their belief to be Love, Tolerance, Acceptance, support such blatant intolerance, non-acceptance and disdain if not out right hatred? What happened to the separation of church and state? Legislative morality? I guess I am using that phrase wrong. I just am stunned and appalled.

I cried all night long. I am a second class citizen, again. To have the right and then have it yanked away is especially heartbreaking. Your outrage helps take the sting out of a very bad 24 hours.

to think that people value the rights of animals over the rights of people makes my heart sick. No one person should be able to judge who a person wants to be with. And to think that people I know have chosen this way…it is hard to find words. Our nation has a long way to go when it comes to human rights.

When will the day come that the issue is no longer an issue? I truly believe it will come but that we have to be smart in the battle. We must remian strong, smart and loving – even to the narrow minded idiots!
