Yes, I de-activated, quit, did away with Facebook. It was a tool that became a chore. Much like my cell phone that is to make and receive calls. It was supposed to be a useful thing that was not.

Instead, it was a non-stop list of pictures of people and places and things that had nothing to do with me or were not or could not be of any use to my current situation. Networking for the sole purpose of trying to make a living. That was why I  got on/in Facebook. Obviously, that was my mistake, it is after all called, social networking for a reason.  Somehow vacation pictures, pet pictures, who you are thinking of, what you are eating, what show is most like the vampire mobster president tree fish that you’ve seen every high IQ test score of has absolutely nothing to do with anything I really give a flying fuck about.

The best part, 1 out of 150 messages, pings, hits, whatever you call facebook contacts, was actually to me, from someone wanting to tell me something. But, when I quit Facebook, I get a bunch of concerned emails, “Hey, are you alright?” Turning off Facebook is now a sign of distress? The cyber flare gun?

No, I am not alright. If you had bothered to actually read anything I wasted my time posting on Facebook, or twitter – which I no longer have, or MySpace  – which I no longer have,  you would know, that no, I am not fucking alright.

You want to know 10, or 25 or 45 things about me? Ask me. No, let me force some info on you instead:

1) Favourite color: opaque

2) Last book read: Seven Things Virgins do that You Don’t Know About.

3) Favourite food: affordable

4) Biggest fear: living too long

Have a picture of me that I probably hate but you want to show everyone? Go ahead but why force me to know about it?

Want me to know 25 or 45 things about you? Please, wait ’till I ask.

Oh yeah, before you ask me, or anyone else, ever again, “How are you?” make damn sure you want to know, that you have the time to listen to the answer, that you have the ability to feign interest if you can’t show any for real.

I am sorry you are not alright. I wish I could fix it for you. I am here, and willing to listen, should you want to talk.
